Daltonganj March 27: Palamu Police Parivar hosted a grand gala Iftaar party at the police line ground on Wednesday.

It was after more than a decade that Palamu police had revived the tradition of hosting the Iftaar party.

A Celebration of Unity Among Officers

There came a phase here in the police line and district constabulary when Muslim cops were countable on fingers.

Such a minuscule strength of the Muslim cops then saw the curtains down on the hosting of Iftaar. Hosting an Iftaar party is a gigantic task where time is maintained most strictly.

However, this 2025 Ramzan some handful of Muslim cops along with a good number of cops of other faiths joined hands together and organised the Iftaar party here on Wednesday. The Iftaar party of the police was a happy and joyful combination of cops of different faiths.

Traffic in-charge Samal Ahmad played a major role as it was he who gathered cops of all hues and arranged the Iftaar party. Muslim cops rozedar were in kurta pyjama but their level of guard was intact.

VIP Guests and Traditional Offerings

VIPs were offered Topi and Saafa, a kind of replica which used to be worn by the PLO chief Yasser Arafat.

The VIPs included IG of police Palamu zone Sunil Bhaskar, DIG CRPF, SP ACB Anjani Anjan, SP Palamu Reeshma Ramesan, DDC Shabbir Ahmad, additional SP Ops Rakesh Singh, former minister K N Tripathy and host of other distinguished personalities.

The commoners were offered spotless white Topis. The Iftaar began when came the Azaan from the Jama Masjid. It was a plateful Iftaar with hard fried ‘do peeyaza, ghughni, paneer pakora, tikka and slice of apple and cucumber, grapes and banana etc’. There was lassi and bottled water. With date palms, the rozedars began eating the Iftaar.

A few big came too late when Iftaar was almost over. A couple of journalists too reached late and got on the job without waiting for any morsel of the Iftaar. Chief of the Ramnavmi festival Jugal Kishore came too late to the Iftaar party.

A cop there had his humour when he said, “This evening of Iftaar cops will do Topi check on head, not helmet!”

SP Reeshma Ramesan and her hubby ACB SP Anjani Anjan welcomed the guests.

IG of police Palamu zone Sunil Bhaskar had a few meaningful words on how such a celebration cements the various faiths together and makes it stronger. A drone flew over the Iftaar party.
