Jamshedpur June 24: The police solved four cases of crimes of grievous nature committed under separate police station areas here in the steel city during the past couple of days.
In all, eight persons have been arrested in the cases of attempted murder, chain-snatching and loot committed in Birsanagar, MGM, Govindpur and Jugsalai thana areas.
Three arrested for gun-shot attack
Revealing about the breakthrough, city SP, Mukesh Lunayat said that they arrested three youths namely Sanjay Bhuinya, Aman Mandal and Prahallad Karnakar for launching a gun-shot attack on a youth at Baldev Bustee in Jugsalai on Sunday night.
Identified as Karan Singh, the victim was shot in the head by one of the three, causing him to sustain a grievous injury, The victim who is a resident of Baldev Bustee was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
“One of the arrested youth, Prahallad Karmakar who is also a resident of Baldev Bustee had developed enmity with Karan Singh recently and had brought in two goons, Sanjay Bhuinya and Aman Mandal from Bhuinyadih to attack Karan. The police have also recovered the pistol used in the gun-shot attack, ” said Lunayat while addressing a press conference here today.

Chain-snatcher, jeweller arrested
In another breakthrough, the police arrested two, including a jeweller related to a chain-snatching case registered with the Govindpur thana on June 20.
“A 27-year-old youth, Rohit Murmu had snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman at Ghorabandha locality in Govindpur by following the Scooty-riding victim on his motorcycle. The victim had lodged an FIR with the concerned thana mentioning that the snatched gold chain’s weight was 20 grams. A team set up to detect the case ultimately succeeded in tracing the culprit on the basis of the description given by the victim, ” revealed the city SP.
He pointed out that on being interrogated, the suspect Rohit Murmu confessed his crime and divulged that he had sold out the gold chain in question to a jeweller at Telco Azad market for Rs 83,500.
Lunayat said acting on the information the police team not only arrested the jeweller identified as Vikash Kumar but also recovered 19.5 grams of molten gold from his shop.
Three arrested for committing loot
In yet another case, the police arrested three youths namely Rahul Kumar Yadav, Harsh Om Sharma and Arun Uday Mahto for committing loot in the Birsanagar and MGM thana areas on June 22.
DSP, Sudhir Kumar played an important role in the detection of these criminal cases and in bringing the accused in police net.
