Jamshedpur, Dec 10: The Sitaramdera police have cracked the high-profile Baradwari burglary case, arresting four people and recovering the entire haul of stolen ornaments worth nearly Rs 14 lakh.

The breakthrough came under the supervision of City SP Kumar Shivashish, who led a swift and coordinated operation.

According to police, the mastermind behind the crime is Alok Mukhi alias Sawan Mukhi (20), a resident of Bhalubasa. On December 7, around 3 pm, he allegedly broke into the locked house of Amit Solanki and decamped with gold and silver jewellery valued at over Rs 10 lakh.

Investigations revealed that Alok’s brother-in-law, Dheeraj Kumar Tanti (25), and his sister, Jyoti Mukhi (25), played a crucial role in disposing of the stolen jewellery.

Both were arrested from Adityapur. During interrogation, Dheeraj confessed to selling a gold necklace at Ananya Jewellers in Gamharia for Rs 70,000 in cash.

Acting on this input, police conducted a dramatic raid at Ananya Jewellers, posing as customers.

They recovered the stolen necklace and arrested the shop owner, Sunil Kumar Prasad, for purchasing the item without a bill or verification.

The police have seized a gold necklace, bangles, kadas, two maang-tikas, nose pins, tops, a silver ring, a silver coin, a scooter, a mobile phone, and Rs 70,000 in cash.

The total value of recovered jewellery has been estimated at Rs 14 lakh.

City SP Kumar Shivashish said that both Alok and Dheeraj were previously jailed and have criminal records.
