Jamshedpur, Oct 13: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, Jamshedpur police thwarted a robbery attempt and arrested four suspects from the Kalyan Nagar area under the Sitaramdera police station.

The arrests were made late on Sunday night after the police received intelligence inputs about a group planning a dacoity near the riverbank.

During the raid, police recovered a country-made pistol, another firearm, and three mobile phones from the suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kishan Gagrai (19), Mangal Gagrai (21), Karan Mundari alias Jhantu (25), and Abhay Namta (23) — all residents of Hume Pipe locality, Kalyan Nagar in Sitaramdera.

City SP Kumar Shivashish informed during a press conference on Monday that the operation was carried out jointly under the leadership of City DSP and DSP Headquarters–1.
“Around 11 p.m. on October 12, information was received that a few youths armed with illegal weapons were planning a robbery. Acting promptly, a police team was mobilized, and the suspects were nabbed from the spot,” he said.
During interrogation, the accused admitted their involvement and revealed that they were preparing to execute a robbery in the area.
All four have been sent to judicial custody as police continue to probe their criminal background and possible links with other illegal activities.

The timely intervention of the police prevented a potential crime, reinforcing the department’s vigilance and commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
