Dhanbad, June 6: Prakash Foundation in association with the Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC) of IIT ISM Dhanbad provided a scholarship of Rs 3000 and a smartphone to 26 meritorious girl students of class XI belonging to the backward section in a function held at Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre.
The selected students were those who had secured 85% marks in class X.
Apart from class XI students, the Foundation and ACIC IIT ISM Foundation also provided scholarships of Rs 3000 each to 24 female students of class XII science stream.
Prof Rajni Singh, dean of corporate communication of IIT ISM was guest of honour in the function and she gave away scholarship cheques to selected students along with other dignitaries.
Prof PS Rao, department of Mathematics and Communication, Dr Akansha Sinha, executive officer and Camella Choudhary, manager of ACIC Foundation were present on the occasion and gave away scholarship cheques to students.

Scholarships to meritorious girl students of science
Prakash Foundation founder president Rameshwar Prasad (84), retired mechanical engineer of ACC Sindri, while coordinating the programme said that the Foundation provides scholarships to meritorious girl students of science who are also enrolled for coaching classes for medical and engineering entrance examinations.
“We launched the initiative to provide scholarships to meritorious girl students in 2012. The scholarship is being funded by Indian Women Professionals working abroad,” he said.
Prasad said the smartphone is provided to students during class XI and not again in class XII.
“We also provide scholarships of Rs 50,000 per year to some of these students whose annual income is less than Rs 1.5 lakh,” he said.
