Railways fines 683 ticketless passengers, earns Rs 3.04 lakhs

Dhanbad, Aug 7: Altogether 683 passengers were caught travelling without a ticket during special checking conducted in mail, and express trains at different railway stations of the Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone.

Giving this information to media persons, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager ( Sr DCM) of Dhanbad Rail Division  Amresh Kumar said that the special checking was conducted between 6 00 am to 10.00 PM  in different trains at  Dhanbad, Gomoh, Chandrapura, Koderma, Daltonganj, Chopan, Barkkana and Singroli stations.

A fine of Rs 3.04 lakh was collected on the spot from 683 unauthorised travellers in trains.

Fine for carrying luggage without booking

The Senior DCM said besides without tickets travellers, the fine was also realized from unauthorized travellers, carrying luggage without booking. Some of the defaulter passengers were let off with stern warnings not to repeat the mistake in future.

The official said that regular ticket checking is being conducted in different mail and express trains at different railway stations of the division and the campaign would continue shortly also. “The main aim of the campaign is to check ticketless travelling in trains and encourage passengers to travel with a ticket,” said the Sr DCM.
