Election Commission sets September 3 for Rajya Sabha elections for 12 vacant seats

New Delhi, August 7: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced that the elections for 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats will be held on September 3.

According to the ECI, the final date for issuing the notification is August 21, and the nomination scrutiny will take place on August 22.

The deadline for withdrawing candidatures is August 26 for Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tripura, and August 27 for Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Odisha.

Polling will take place on September 3 from 9 am to 4 pm, with the vote counting scheduled for the same day at 5 pm.

There are two vacant seats each in Bihar, Assam and Maharashtra, and one each in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana and Odisha.
