Ranchi, Aug 20: The Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU), a national organization of coal miners, on Tuesday paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi on his 80th birth anniversary today.
A massive tribute meeting was organized at Koylanagar base Rajiv Chowk in which RCMU leaders, political party leaders and general people offered floral tributes to the statue of the former prime minister and recalled his contribution to the development of the country.
Executive president of RCMU (INTUC) cum senior leader of state Cong Brajendra Prasad Singh while paying tributes said that Rajiv Gandhi always gave priority to the development of miners and labours and how to improve their life standards. “He launched several welfare projects for the improvement of miners’ lives,” he said.

Brajendra Prasad Singh said the outstanding contribution of Rajiv Gandhi in industrial and technical development in the country especially in the fields of computer and information technology can’t be ignored.
On the occasion, RCMU general secretary AK Jha while recalling the contribution of Rajiv Gandhi in making the nation strong in the world, said that he also did remarkable work in promoting unity in society, communal harmony and brotherhood among different sections of people.
“Promoting communal harmony and brotherhood will be a real tribute to our great leader,” Jha said.
