Jamshedpur, June 14: Two members of a “nasha khurani” gang have been arrested from Jamtara district by Railway Protection Force (RPF) Tatanagar on Friday.
Identified as Ashok Mandal and Dhurguj Mandal, the two accused would steal valuables from the passengers having made them senseless by tricking them into consuming doctored food on the trains.
On being interrogated by the railway police, the duo divulged that they would use Lorazepam in food to a passenger after befriending him on the train. And after the passenger turned senseless having consumed the doctored food, they would decamp with the valuables of the victim.
According to the railway police, the two accused would commit such crimes mostly on Bihar-bound trains and target lone passengers only.

Tatanagar GRP registered a case in April
According to the railway police, a passenger identified as Shravan Kumar had fallen victim to the nasha khurani gang while travelling on the Tata-Thawe Express on April 1. The passenger was rescued in an unconscious state from the train and brought back to Tatanagar station by the railway police.
Shravan Kumar had returned to his senses after the necessary medical hv care at the local railway hospital and the GRP, Tatanagar had registered a case on the basis of a statement made by the victim.
According to the railway police, Shravan Kumar had described exactly how two co-passengers befriended him before offering him biscuits during the travel.
Sketches of suspects led to arrest
The railway police in cooperation with the GRP, Tatanagar got sketches of the two suspects drawn besides collecting other details while starting an investigation into the case. After a thorough probe into that case, the railway police finally succeeded in reaching the criminals in Jamtara district.
Both Ashok Mandal and Dhurguj Mandal who are residents of Karua village under Karmatand thana in Jamtara were arrested from their house on Thursday evening and confessed having committed a number of thefts including that committed on April 1 in the Tata-Thawe Express.
