Dhanbad, Oct 19: In a late-night operation on Friday, the election wing of the Dhanbad district administration seized a total of Rs 11.38 lakh from two vehicles at the Maithon inter-state check post under the Maithon police station.

According to officials, Rs 10 lakh in cash was recovered from a car belonging to Harjinder Singh, reportedly a resident of Jamshedpur, who was travelling from Kolkata to Dhanbad.
An additional Rs 1.38 lakh was seized from another vehicle owned by Chetan Singhania, a resident of Giridih, who was also travelling from Kolkata to Dhanbad.

Upon receiving information about the cash recovery, Block Development Officer (BDO) Madhu Kumari arrived at the check post and ordered the seizure of both cars.
The Income Tax (IT) department has been notified, and officials are currently investigating the matter. Both vehicles remained parked at the Maithon police station as of Saturday evening.
In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Dhanbad district administration has established 11 inter-state check posts and 5 inter-district check posts to monitor and regulate the movement of cash and other items.
