Jamshedpur, Dec 13: A district-level seminar and concluding event for the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence was held, jointly organized by the social organization YUVA (Youth Unity for Voluntary Action) and the Women Gaining Ground Consortium, Kriya New Delhi.

The event brought together stakeholders to deliberate on strategies to combat gender-based violence and strengthen support systems like the One Stop Centre.

Youth Secretary Barnali Chakravarti outlined the campaign’s objective, emphasizing the themes “Visible and Invisible” and “Everyone Counts Equally.” She pointed out the alarming rise in incidents of violence against gender-identified individuals and called for collective action to tackle the issue.

Strengthening One Stop Centre

The seminar included discussions on interventions that can be implemented by government and non-government organizations to curb violence in public spaces, online platforms, and the field of sports. Participants unanimously emphasized the need to bolster the role of the One Stop Centre, a crucial facility that provides integrated support to survivors of violence.

As part of the action plan, it was decided to seek the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner to strengthen the One Stop Centre and enhance its accessibility and effectiveness.

The program saw participation from various sectors, including representatives from media, government and non-government organizations, the Jharkhand Handicapped Forum, educational institutions, and youth workers.
