Jharkhand News: Sharp weapons banned in Ramnavami procession in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, April 3: The Dhanbad district administration has banned the registration of new Ramanavami Akhara and the demonstration of sharp weapons by players in the procession.

The administration has also banned loudspeakers and DJs from playing from 10 pm to 6 am during the festivals.

At the peace committee meeting, they called for Eid Al Fitr and Ramnavami at Town Hall; Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra informed that since the Model Code of Conducts was imposed with the announcement of the Lok Sabha election, all Akharas would take out non-political processions and would not raise political slogans.

“In case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct, the district administration would not hesitate to take due action against organizers,” said Madhvi Mishra, chairing the meeting.

The DC said that at this time, only registered Ramnavami Akharas would be allowed to participate in the procession, and new Akharas would not be registered for the occasion. She also announced a ban on liquor during Eid Al—Fitr and Ramnavami festivals in the district and the display of sharp weapons by Akhara players in demonstrations as it leads to apprehension of injury.

Peaceful celebration of both festivals

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan said that we must ensure peaceful celebration of both festivals in a brotherhood and cordial atmosphere. He also directed the police to identify the rowdy element and inform them so that action against him could be taken duly.

The SSP also asked representatives of Akhara Dal to coordinate with the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and the officer in charge of their respective police stations and provide them with a list of troublemakers in the area.

In addition to the DC and the SSP, superintendent of police ( city) Ajit Kumar, rural SP Kapil Choudhary, Town Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma, DRDA director Rajiv Ranjan, Additional Collector Vinod Kumar, ADM ( law and order) Hema Prasad, and SDM Uday Rajak were also present.
