Dhanbad, June 19: The Registrar of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), Professor Radhamohan Tripathi, has issued a show-cause notice to the Principal of BSS Women’s College, Dr Karuna, over alleged irregularities in the nomination of a university representative.
The notice, issued on the directive of the Chancellor’s office (Governor of Jharkhand), directs Dr Karuna to submit a formal explanation within three days.
The action follows a complaint filed by one of the college’s senior-most faculty members, Dr Vinay Thakur, and others, alleging that Dr Karuna appointed Dr Gauri Kumari Munda, Head of the Sanskrit Department, through an improper process.

Taking cognisance of the complaint, Raj Bhavan directed the BBMKU Registrar to conduct a probe and submit a report.
Dr Thakur further alleged that on May 29, the principal made the selection arbitrarily, in violation of university rules and election guidelines. It was also claimed that unauthorised individuals were included in the voters’ list for the college’s teachers’ election.
According to university regulations, only teachers appointed to sanctioned posts are eligible to contest and vote in the election. However, the principal is accused of nominating an individual who does not hold a post approved under university concurrence.
Repeated attempts to reach Dr Karuna for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.
