Dhanbad, Dec 27: Six members of the notorious Prince Khan gang, involved in a series of criminal activities, were arrested in Dhanbad on Friday. The arrests led to the recovery of firearms and ammunition.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh Badhawan (27) and Ganesh Kumar (28) from Katras, Ajay Kumar Singh (35) from Madhuban in Giridih, Karan Singh (21) from Nichitpur, Sagar Mallah (20), and Priyesh Kumar Singh (25) from Palamu district.

The police seized a Swift car, a Pulsar bike, three pistols, 16 cartridges, and seven mobile phones during the operation.

Details of Arrests and Seizures

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhanbad, HP Janardhan, provided details of the arrests. Three gang members—Rajesh Badhawan, Ajay Kumar Singh, and Sagar Kumar Mallah (alias Bitoo)—were intercepted near Shimlabahal Bridge under Kenduadih police station while traveling in a Swift car. The police confiscated three pistols and several cartridges from their possession.

Two additional gang members, Ganesh Gupta and Kiran Singh, were arrested while attempting to escape on a motorcycle near Nichitpur Railway Siding under Katras police station. Firearms were recovered from them as well. Meanwhile, their accomplice, Priyesh Kumar Singh, was apprehended at the Dhanbad Bartand Bus Stand.

Gang’s Criminal Activities and Confessions

During interrogation, the arrested shooters confessed to their involvement in multiple shooting incidents across the district over the past three months. They admitted to being active members of the infamous Prince Khan gang.

“The arrested shooters of the organized gang admitted their involvement in a series of shooting incidents that occurred in the district in the last three months,” SSP Janardhan stated.

The suspects were linked to high-profile cases, including:

  • The shooting of cement trader Chetan Mahto in Barwadda.
  • The attack on a Railway Siding under Tetulmari police station on December 2.
  • The shooting of staff at the Baliapur Marshalling Yard on December 19.

SSP Janardhan revealed that Ganesh Gupta, released from jail on December 26, was the mastermind orchestrating these crimes.

Three SITs Formed to Crack Down on the Gang

In response to the escalating number of shootings in the district, SSP Janardhan formed three Special Investigation Teams (SITs) led by City SP Ajit Kumar and other senior officials.

Based on a tip-off that the gang was planning another major crime, the police heightened security across the district and successfully apprehended the suspects.
