Jharkhand News: Sona Devi University observes 11th International Yoga Day

Jamshedpur, June 21: Sona Devi University marked the 11th International Yoga Day with an early morning yoga session on campus, held from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM.

Faculty members came together to perform yoga under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

The event, titled Yoga Sangam, was organized in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the National Service Scheme (NSS).

Notably, the university recently received approval to initiate its own NSS unit, making this the first such event organized under its aegis.

Celebrations were held across more than 10,000 locations throughout India today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the national observance by participating in a yoga session in Visakhapatnam.

It was under the initiative of the Indian government that the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Yoga Day, which is now in its 11th year of observance.

Speaking at the event, university yoga instructor Komal Sinha emphasized the importance of regular yoga practice.  “Yoga helps create balance in all aspects of life. For students, it enhances focus, reduces stress, and improves both physical and mental well-being,” she said.

She also highlighted yoga’s role in boosting immunity and urged students to adopt it as a part of their daily routine for overall success.
