Jamshedpur, Feb 6: St. John’s High School, Jugsalai, organised a unique and engaging event, ‘Day without Bags,’ for pre-primary students. The event, themed ‘School is my Runway,’ focused on educating children about air, land, and water transport through fun-filled activities and play-based learning.

The programme commenced with a vibrant tableau showcasing various modes of transport, with children dressed as airplanes, cars, buses, boats, and trains. This lively start set the tone for an immersive learning experience.

Hands-On Exploration of Transportation, Creative Expression Through Poetry and Drama

One of the highlights of the event was an activity titled “School is my Runway,” where children explored the significance of different modes of transport through interactive play with toy vehicles. The session provided a hands-on understanding of how transportation functions in daily life.

Further adding to the learning experience, students creatively illustrated the importance of air, water, and land transport through poetry and drama. Their enthusiastic performances brought the topic to life, making it more relatable and enjoyable.

The event concluded with a melodious song performed by students of Class 1 and 2, celebrating the wonders of transportation.

Principal’s Insights on Experiential Learning

Speaking on the occasion, the school’s Principal, Ashu Tiwari, emphasized the significance of experiential learning. She stated, “It is more effective to teach children through real-life experiences rather than books. Such activities not only make their learning process interesting but also encourage their imagination and creativity.”

The school’s director, G. Francis, along with teachers and parents, applauded the children’s efforts and encouraged them throughout the event. The successful organization of the program was met with appreciation, with all participating teachers and students being congratulated for their enthusiastic involvement in this innovative learning experience.
