Dhanbad, March 7: Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jamshedpur chapter vice-president Dr Mritunjay Kumar Singh has alleged that IMA state president Dr AK Singh, on the direction of the health minister, is playing a foul game in the Jamshedpur chapter of IMA.

‘IMA president working under health minister’s kin pressure’

“I am pained to inform you that Dr AK Singh, on the pressure of Dr Saurabh Choudhary, son of Dr Renuka Choudhary(a relative of health minister Banna Gupta), has planned big politics against me in the Jamshedpur chapter,” said Dr Mritunjay Kumar Singh in his letter to the IMA national body.

Dr Mritunjay Singh has also alleged that Health Minister Banna Gupta tortured many Jamshedpur doctors and even sent 4-5 doctors to jail. “Despite this, Jamshedpur branch IMA secretary Dr Saurabh Choudhary and IMA Jharkhand president Dr AK Singh blindly supported him and did according to him,” he has pointed out.

IMA state president refutes allegation

However, IMA Jharkhand president Dr AK Singh refuted the charges and said that Dr Mritunjay Singh has a habit of harassing doctors. “I don’t know how he became vice-president of the Jamshedpur chapter while he is posted 400 km away in Palamu and earlier in Pakur. Even the civil surgeon of Palamu has expressed a crisis of doctors, but he is sitting in Jamshedpur; that is a matter of probe,” said Dr Singh.

The IMA state president said he does not know what grudge Dr Mritunjay Singh has against senior doctor Dr Renuka Choudhary, who retired from service 10-12 years ago. Earlier, he got senior medical officer Dr AK Lal of Jamshedpur terminated on a false charge. However, the high court reinstated Dr Lal.
