Jamshedpur, Oct 8: In the bid to enhance the skills in the field of endo-gynaecology, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Tata Main Hospital, hosted a comprehensive workshop on hysteroscopic techniques and procedures.
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive technique used to examine the inside of the uterus and can be used in diagnosing and treating various conditions such as tumours of the uterus or fibroids, polyps, blocked fallopian tubes and abnormal bleeding.
The workshop was led by Dr Sanjeev Kumar, a renowned gynaecological surgeon and Director of Women Hospital and Fertility Centre, Patna and included hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment.
The workshop attracted over 50 participants, including gynaecologists, nurses, and medical students from Jamshedpur and other mine hospitals, eager to learn about the latest advancements in this procedure.

The workshop was also attended by senior doctors like Dr Vinita Singh (GMMS Designate), Dr Mamta Rath Datta (CMSS & HOD), Dr Alokananda Ray (Head Consultant), Dr Mousumi Das Ghosh (Senior Consultant), who also shared their valuable experiences.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions covering patient selection, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative care, as well as troubleshooting potential complications. The hands-on component allowed attendees to practice techniques and fostering confidence and proficiency in performing hysteroscopies. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
Tata Main Hospital aims to continue offering educational opportunities to healthcare professionals, recognizing the importance of ongoing training in improving patient care.
The advanced hysteroscopy procedures will allow surgeons to manage women with abnormal bleeding or with tumours inside the uterus using a minimally invasive approach and will reduce the need for total removal of the uterus in such patients.
