The primary objectives are to increase public awareness of the importance of records and archives, raise awareness among decision-makers of the benefits of records management for good governance and development, make the public and private sectors fully conscious of the need for long-term archival preservation and access, showcase the unique and rare documents preserved in archival institutions, and enhance the global image and profile of records and archives.
