Jamshedpur, Sept 9: Tata Steel issued an alert for general people that a large-scale, multi-state fake recruitment scam has been uncovered by the company’s Brand Protection Team.

An investigation has been conducted, and an FIR has been filed against the identified individuals responsible for this fraudulent activity.

“We urge the public to remain cautious and avoid falling victim to scams where payments are solicited in exchange for job opportunities at Tata Steel. Please note that Tata Steel follows a merit-based employee selection process and does not charge any fees, security deposits, or facilitation charges during any stage of the recruitment process. We have also placed a notice to this effect on the careers page of our official website: https://www.tatasteel.com/careers,”  said a notice issued by the steel major.

Fraudsters may falsely claim to be associated with Tata Steel, using fake appointment letters and fraudulent communications, including emails, phone calls, and social media, to demand payment from job seekers.

“We urge the people to ignore any such requests for payment and treat them as scams,” the notice stated.

The notice further said that the only valid email domain used by Tata Steel is @tatasteel.com and that any other email domains are fraudulent and should not be trusted.

A senior official of the HR department said, “We request everyone to exercise caution when receiving communications about job offers and to verify the sender’s identity. For further details and to report any suspicious communication, visit our official website at https://www.tatasteel.com/careers.”
