Tata Steel Jharia Division celebrates International Day for Biological Diversity

Dhanbad, May 23: Jharia Division of Tata Steel observed International Day for Biological Diversity at the Kalimela Open Cast Project site with a programme based on this year’s theme, ‘Be Part of the Plan.’

This programme was organized in collaboration with the regional office, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB), Dhanbad.

On the occasion, officers of Tata Steel Jharia Division said that the celebration was a testament to our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the planet’s biodiversity for future generations.

The day was celebrated with an awareness session on diversity in which 50 students of schools participated in an educational session that covered the history, meaning and importance of Biodiversity Day.

A discussion was also held on the role of an individual in biodiversity conservation. The session aimed to give the younger generation a deep understanding of biodiversity.

In the course of the celebration, the participants planted around 100 saplings in the area.

On the occasion, Kousik Gayen, head planning; Rajesh Kumar, unit lead TSF; Jit Shree, area manager planning, Pradeep Gour, area manager environment; Umesh Kumar Singh, manager environment and Mahendra Singh, manager participated in the programme.
