Dhanbad, Aug 27: Tata Steel Jharia Division on Tuesday commemorated the 165th birth anniversary of its first chairman, Sir Dorabji Tata, with a tribute ceremony at Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Jamadoba.
General Manager Sanjay Rajoria, alongside senior officials, employees, and union representatives, paid floral tributes at the park named in Sir Dorabji Tata’s honour.
Rajoria addressed the attendees, reflecting on Sir Dorabji Tata’s significant milestones and achievements. He emphasized the continued relevance of his vision and values, urging everyone present to uphold them.

The official highlighted Dorabji Tata’s passion for sports, noting his pivotal role in the Indian Olympic movement as the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). He also supported the Indian team’s participation in the 1924 Paris Olympics and financed the Indian contingent.
The event was attended by Narendra Kumar Gupta, Chief of the Jamadoba Group; Pankaj Das, Head of HRBP; Barun Banerjee, Head of Safety; Shweta Mishra, Head of Administration; Kousik Gayen, Head of Planning; Aman, Head of Engineering Services; Santosh Mahato, Regional Secretary of the Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU); along with numerous officers, union representatives, and employees from the Jharia Division.
