Jamshedpur, June 8: Three persons were killed and as many injured in separate road mishaps in and around the steel city during the past 24 hours.
While two of the fatal mishaps took place under Baharagora and Dumaria thana areas respectively, the third mishap occurred in front of PM Mall in Bistupur.
Head-on collision between two bikes kills youth
At Bistupur two bike-borne youths collided head-on on the Outer Circle Road near the mall late on Friday night.
In the mishap a youth identified as Ravi Ranjan was fatally injured whereas another youth identified as Mohammed Kabir was seriously injured.
According to police, Ravi Ranjan who was a resident of Ramjanam Nagar in Kadma was riding towards Adityapur at around 10 pm when Kabir with a pillion-rider came at a breakneck speed riding in the wrong way and hit Ravi Ranjan’s bike. As a result of the collision, all three bike riders were flung apart.
A PCR patrolling van rushed two seriously injured to Tata Main Hospital where Ravi Ranjan was declared as brought dead.

Man dies after bike rams into tree
In another mishap, a 33-year-old man identified as Lodhaya Hansda was killed as his bike rammed into a tree near Badabotla village on Ghatsila-Dumaria road under Dumaria thana area late last night. Hansda’s wife who was riding pillion sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.
The passersby rushed both the injured to a nearby primary health centre, where Lodhaya Hansda was declared dead.
Lodhaya Hansda was a panchayat Samiti member of Ashtikowali panchayat and met the mishap while returning home having attended a social function.
Man dies after speeding dumper hits him
In yet another mishap, a middle-aged man identified as Gangadhar Rana was killed on the spot on being hit by a speeding dumper at Maheshpur Chowk under Baharagora thana area late in the night. Rana and his colleague Maheshwar Munda were critically injured.
The duo were rushed to a government-run health centre where Lodhaya Hansda succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
The dumper driver, however, managed to escape from the scene with his vehicle.
