Eastern Railway spokesperson Kausik Mitra clarified that the trains and tracks belong entirely to NTPC and are not part of the Indian Railways network.
The affected line, known as the NTPC Lalmatia MGR, links the PSU’s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district to the Farakka Power Plant in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district.
Following the crash, NTPC requested assistance from Indian Railways, seeking a 140-tonne crane from Malda Division. The crane has been arranged from Sahebganj to aid in the restoration process, with Indian Railways extending all necessary support.
