Two notorious criminals arrested with six pistols in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 30: In a major breakthrough, the police arrested two notorious criminals from a house in Vardaan Colony under the Sidhgora thana area of the city in the early hours on Tuesday.

Arrested duo are associates of gangster Akhilesh Singh

Those arrested were identified as Amajeet Singh alias Shetty and Harprit Singh alias Ritik, both said to be associates of gangster Akhilesh Singh and would indulge in firearms supply business.

Revealing about the breakthrough, senior SP, Kishore Kaushal said that while arresting the two, the police recovered six country-made pistols, one magazine, 13 rounds of live cartridges of 7.65 bore and two cartridges of .315 bore from their house.

“Acting on a tip-off that Amarjeet Singh was staying at a rented house in Vardaan Colony on a fake identity, we had set up a team comprised of Sidhgora and Golmuri thanas officials and two DSPs. Past midnight, the police team led by DSP-1, Bhola Prasad and City DSP, Sudhir Kumar swooped over a flat on the second floor and nabbed the two,” said Kishore Kaushal while briefing the newsmen at the police office on Tuesday afternoon.

He pointed out Amarjeet Singh was staying at the rented house by revealing his identity as Ameet Mandal.

According to the senior police officer, both Amarjeet Singh and Harprit Singh would work for the gangster Akhilesh Singh and would remain indulged in crimes like loot, dacoity, extortion and firearms supply.

According to the officer, Amarjeet Singh is a history sheeter and was in jail for a prolonged period before resuming criminal activities after being released from prison recently.

The two arrested persons were sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail after their production before a judicial magistrate.
