How the Lynching Unfolded

The two suspects, residents of Jeeerapara village in Chakulia, were caught attempting to steal two goats from a house. Upon catching them, the house owner alerted other villagers, who soon gathered and held the suspects captive. The mob then beat them mercilessly with sticks, resulting in Behera’s death on the spot.

After his death, the villagers stopped beating Mahto, but by then, it was too late.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and rushed the critically injured Mahto to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
