Daltonganj, September 10: Following intervention by Latehar DC Garima Singh, health officials quickly procured and delivered typhoid test kits to the Barwadeeh Community Health Centre (CHC) on Monday.

For over two weeks, the Barwadeeh CHC had been without typhoid test kits, complicating the diagnosis of fever cases that could either be malaria or typhoid.

With fever cases currently outnumbering other conditions, the lack of testing options was causing significant diagnostic challenges.

Dr Jaywant Lakra, the medical officer in charge of Barwadeeh, explained that while malaria testing was still being conducted, the absence of typhoid test kits meant that suspected typhoid cases were only being tested symptomatically.

Around 10 per cent of the fever cases were suspected to be typhoid, with the health centre seeing an average of 125 outpatients daily.

Civil Surgeon of Latehar, Dr. Awadesh Singh, confirmed late Monday evening that the typhoid test kits had been made available to the Barwadeeh CHC.

Sources indicated that without the prompt action by DC Garima Singh, the kits might not have arrived as swiftly.
