Jharkhand News: Usha Martin University holds PhD Scholars’ Orientation Programme

 Ranchi, Nov 8: Usha Martin University (UMU), Ranchi, organised its PhD Scholars’ Orientation Programme today at the UMU Campus to welcome the newly admitted doctoral scholars across disciplines.

The event aimed to familiarize scholars with the university’s research environment, academic expectations, and procedural framework for doctoral studies.

The programme began at 11:00 AM with a welcome address by Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, Vice Chancellor, who highlighted the importance of research in advancing knowledge and contributing to societal development. She encouraged scholars to pursue their research with integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to academic excellence.

Following the inaugural address, the PhD guides and newly admitted scholars were introduced, marking the beginning of their academic journey at UMU.

During the programme, Prof. Arvind Hans, Dean Faculty, delivered a session on the Introduction to the University and the Role of Research Scholars, emphasising interdisciplinary collaboration and institutional research goals.

Dr. Amir Khusru Akhtar, Dean of Research, then presented an overview of the PhD. Programme Flow and Process, explaining the stages of coursework, proposal development, and thesis evaluation.

Prof. B. N. Sinha, Dean Academics, addressed the Barriers to Effective Research Completion, drawing attention to time management, resource utilization, and ethical challenges in research.

The programme also included an interactive Q&A session with scholars, enabling open discussion on academic and administrative aspects of the research process.

The event concluded with a message from Prof. Milind, Pro Vice Chancellor, who reiterated the university’s assurance to promoting a vibrant research culture grounded in innovation, inclusivity, and scholarly rigour.
