Ranchi, August 12: The Faculty of Journalism & Mass Communication at Usha Martin University convened its 10th Board of Studies meeting on Tuesday to finalize and approve the NEP-based four-year BA (Hons.) Journalism & Mass Communication programme, set to begin in August 2025.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Shahnaaz Zabi, Assistant Professor & Head of the Department. It was attended by academicians and industry experts: Prof. Dev Vrat Singh, Professor & Dean, Department of Mass Communication, Central University of Jharkhand; Suman Srivastava, Founder & Editor, The Jharkhand Story,a News Portal, Ranchi; Dr. Shashi Singh, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Education, Central University of Jharkhand; Biju Toppo, National Award–winning documentary filmmaker; Dr. Rupa Kumari, Assistant Professor; Dr. Md. Saifullah Khalid, Associate Professor, Department of Business Management; Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor; and Ramesh Munda, Media Lab incharge.

Their diverse expertise—spanning academia, media practice, research, and industry—will enrich the BAJMC programme by integrating strong theoretical foundations, hands-on training, ethical and regional perspectives, and contemporary industry skills.

This synergy will prepare students to meet the demands of the evolving media landscape with competence and responsibility.
