Dhanbad, Sept 27: Gopal Reddy, Vice-President of Indu Outsourcing Company engaged in the Moonidih colliery area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), was shot at by an unidentified assailant near Moonidih Kali Temple under Moonidih police station, about 14 km from the district headquarters, on Saturday morning.
Reddy sustained a bullet injury on his thigh and was admitted to Asarfi Hospital, where doctors declared him out of danger. The incident occurred around 9:30 am, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Naushad Alam.

Sequence of Events
Police said Reddy had gone to the temple for worship in his car. On his return, an assailant opened fire from the front. The attacker then fired two more rounds at the vehicle, one of which struck Reddy’s thigh.

Sanjay Roy, Reddy’s driver, told the media that the assailant approached on foot and fired from the front of the car. As Roy sped away, the gunman fired again from the side, with one bullet piercing the vehicle and hitting Reddy.
The assailant, who had parked his bike near the temple, fled the scene immediately after the attack.

DSP Alam, who reached the spot soon after the incident, said the police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby shops to identify and arrest the attacker.
