Jamshedpur, Sept 27: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old woman committed suicide on Friday evening after going live on Facebook from her residence in Farm Area under Kadma police station.

The deceased has been identified as Malti Kumari. According to police sources, Malti was alone at home when the incident took place.  Her husband was away on duty, while their two children were at school.

Family members rushed her to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) immediately after the incident, but doctors declared her brought dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Malti hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a scarf.

During the Facebook Live session, she accused her husband, Sahdev Yadav, of persistent mental harassment and domestic disputes, stating that these pressures had driven her to take the extreme step.

Her brother told the media that Malti was married in 2013 and is survived by two children. Her husband works as a contractual employee at Tata Steel. While her parental home is in Giridih and her in-laws live in Koderma, Malti had been residing with her husband and children in Kadma.

Soon after receiving the news, her maternal family members reached the hospital and levelled serious allegations against Sahdev Yadav. Based on the Facebook Live video, Kadma police detained Sahdev and have begun questioning him.

The woman’s body was sent for post-mortem on Saturday, after which it was handed over to the family for the last rites.
