Daltonganj Jan 30: Nilgai (blue bull) has taken a toll on the life of a young man in Palamu. This is the second human life lost in the Nilgai attack in the past two years in Palamu.

In a freak incident that occurred late Tuesday evening 64 km away from Daltonganj at Lungerkote on the Japla Pathra road, an adult Nilgai hit a running bike leading to the instant death of one rider on the spot while the other rider of the bike got severe injuries.

Injured man referred to MMCH Daltonganj

Sidharth Kumar alias Golu, 22, died on the spot although he was rushed to the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad where he was declared as brought dead.

The other rider identified as Sudhir sustained nasal trauma as he had nasal bleeding.

Sudhir got first aid in the sub-divisional hospital Hussainabad before he was referred to the MMCH Daltonganj at night itself.

Nilgai infested area

The area where the Nilgai so came rushing onto the metallic road and hit the mining bike is infested with a large number of the Nilgais.

Nilgais go in a hurry while crossing the metallic road and here nilgais confront with the bikes and humans both. Nilgais also suffer from the impact of the collision.

Nilgais are heavy-weight animals as male Nilgai weighs between 109 kg to 288 kg while female Nilgai weighs 100 kg to 200 kg. Males have horns. It gives them an extra pound of energy.
