Jamshedpur, June 11: In a decisive action against the growing drug menace, police from Adityapur police station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district arrested a youth on charges of selling brown sugar near Jayprakash Udyan. The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the police.

Acting on the information, a team raided the area and apprehended the suspect while he was loitering around the park, allegedly selling the narcotic substance.

During search operation, the police recovered 10 packets of brown sugar. The accused, identified as Avinash Pradhan, has been taken into judicial custody.

Police sources mentioned that drug-related activities in the area had seen a decline over the past six months.

However, the recent surge in brown sugar peddling following the transfer of the previous station in-charge, Rajeev Kumar Singh, is raising concerns.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating drug networks in the region, stating that such illegal businesses will not be allowed to flourish.
