Ranchi, January 28: The Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre, New Delhi, run by the Women and Child Development Department

and the Sahibganj Police have arrested two human traffickers and recovered 19 girls based on documents recovered from their house.

14 girls are minor

Among them, 14 girls were found between 12 and 15 years old, and five girls were over 18 years old. All are residents of the Borio block of the Sahibganj district of Jharkhand. They were freed from various areas of New Delhi by conducting operations.

In this work, Jharkhand Police was greatly helped by two local NGOs, Mission Mukti Foundation and Rescue Foundation.

Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre, New Delhi

Nachiketa, Nodal Officer of Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre, New Delhi, said that the Borio Police of Jharkhand informed her that a human trafficker had lured several girls and brought them to Delhi. Based on the information the police gave, two human smugglers were arrested after contacting the local police station. A girl was found at the smugglers’ house, whom they had brought to Delhi through human trafficking.

As soon as the human smugglers were found, Sahibganj SP Kumar Gaurav was informed. Taking prompt action, he immediately sent a police team to Delhi. Borio Police, who came to Delhi under the leadership of Rajesh Kumar, conducted raids in various areas of Delhi based on documents found in the house of human traffickers and freed the girls. All will be presented in the CWC (Child Welfare Committee) of different districts of Delhi. After legal action, they will be rehabilitated and sent back to their homes by the Jharkhand Women and Child Development Department.

Women and Child Development

It may be noted that the Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Centre is an integral part of Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, which the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Jharkhand runs. All the actions were taken on the instructions of Resident Commissioner Mast Ram Meena.

The Jharkhand Women and Child Development Department has given strict instructions to all the districts to take immediate action if such cases are found. Along with this, the District Social Welfare Officer and District Child Protection Officer of the concerned district have also been ordered to form a team and send them to New Delhi as soon as such cases are found and rehabilitate the children safely in their homes under various schemes run by the Jharkhand Government. They should be given the benefit. They should also be monitored continuously.

Human trafficking

According to a release issued by the IRRD, the Women and Child Development Department is very sensitive in the matter of human trafficking, as a result of which hundreds of children who were victims of trafficking in Jharkhand have been freed from different areas of the country and rehabilitated in their homes. They have also been given benefits from many Jharkhand government schemes.

Rahul Singh and Nirmala Khalko of Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Center said that information about children and girls who are victims of trafficking in Jharkhand is also received through toll-free number 10582. The rescued girls will be counselled and rehabilitated by the District Social Welfare Officer of Sahibganj district after getting their home verification done through the DCPO of their respective district.

Brokers active in Jharkhand

The rescued girls were brought to Delhi through a broker. Such brokers are very active in Jharkhand and get minor girls to Delhi by luring them with the promise of living a good life in Delhi and selling them to various houses on the pretext of employing them. From this, they get a considerable amount of money, and the lives of these girls are made worse than hell.
