PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Jan 22: Jharkhand has witnessed relief from cold wave conditions, experiencing dry, calm, and seasonally stable weather, according to the Realised Weather Report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi centre.

The report indicates a largely stable atmosphere across the state, with no significant weather disturbances affecting normal life.

Daytime temperatures remained mildly warm at several places, rising above normal winter levels and creating pleasant conditions.

Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 25.1°C, slightly above the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature stood at 9.8°C, close to normal.

Jamshedpur experienced warmer conditions, with a daytime high of 29.2°C and a nighttime temperature of 13.4°C.

Chaibasa Warmest Place in the State

Chaibasa emerged as the warmest location in Jharkhand, registering a maximum temperature of 30.4°C, a significant departure above normal for this time of year.

Other locations such as Daltonganj and Bokaro Thermal also reported above-average daytime temperatures, highlighting a trend of gentle winter warmth across the state.

Cold Nights Continue in Interior Areas

Despite warmer days, night temperatures continued to reflect winter conditions, especially in the plateau and forested regions.

Gumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 4.8°C, indicating sharp nocturnal cooling typical of Jharkhand’s interior districts during January.

No Rain, Fog or Cold Wave Reported

Weather conditions remained uniformly dry across Jharkhand, with no rainfall recorded at any station in the last 24 hours.

There were no reports of fog or cold wave conditions. Visibility remained satisfactory, with the lowest visibility of 1,500 metres observed at Jamshedpur.

Automated weather station data also confirmed stable atmospheric conditions and the absence of rainfall across districts.

Typical Late-January Winter Weather

Overall, Jharkhand experienced a classic late-January winter day marked by clear skies, comfortable daytime warmth, cool nights, and no disruptive weather events.
