Daltonganj, July 16: As Jharkhand races to complete the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls before the July 29 deadline, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) from Latehar district has emerged as a standout performer by achieving 100 per cent digitisation of filled Enumeration Forms (EFs) along with 100 per cent distribution of the forms.
The achievement comes at a time when election officials across the state are grappling with a slow pace of digitisation. Administrative sources said no Assembly constituency in Jharkhand has yet reached even 75 per cent digitisation of filled Enumeration Forms, despite significant progress in their distribution.
The achiever is Lakhni Nagesia, the BLO of Booth No. 262 at Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya, Surkai, in the Mahuadanr block of Latehar district.
According to an official note, she is the first BLO in the district to achieve 100 per cent distribution and 100 per cent digitisation of Enumeration Forms under the ongoing SIR exercise.
In recognition of her performance, Latehar Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Sandip Kumar presented her with a letter of appreciation on Wednesday.
Digitisation remains a challenge
While Latehar has recorded its first 100 per cent digitisation achievement at the booth level, officials admitted that the overall pace of digitisation remains a concern across Jharkhand.
Sources said Bishrampur Assembly constituency in Palamu district is among the better-performing constituencies in digitisation, whereas Hussainabad is still trying to improve its progress.
Mahuadanr block falls under the Manika Assembly constituency, which has 54,767 registered electors.
District Election Officer Sandip Kumar said difficult terrain and poor internet connectivity continue to pose challenges.
“There are some shadow areas in Mahuadanr block where internet connectivity is erratic. Despite that, our BLOs are working very hard,” he said.
Administration aims to speed up SIR work
According to the district administration, 99.92 per cent of Enumeration Forms had been distributed in Mahuadanr block by Wednesday, while digitisation stood at 50.50 per cent.
Administrative sources said the present pace of digitisation is below five per cent per booth per day, whereas nearly 12 per cent daily progress would now be required to achieve near-complete digitisation before July 29.
Sandip Kumar said the administration is working to accelerate the process.
“The countdown has begun. We are determined to accelerate the digitisation of filled Enumeration Forms at breakneck speed,” he said.
He added that correctly filled, error-free Enumeration Forms help ensure faster digitisation.
“We appeal to electors in both Assembly constituencies to give utmost priority to filling and submitting their Enumeration Forms to their respective BLOs without any delay,” Kumar said.
679 BLOs deployed in Latehar
Latehar district has 679 Booth Level Officers, one for each polling booth across the Manika and Latehar Assembly constituencies.
The district has a combined electorate of more than 5.60 lakh voters, including around 2.55 lakh electors in Manika and over 3.04 lakh electors in Latehar Assembly constituency.
The Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls is scheduled to conclude on July 29.
