Jamshedpur, Jan 1: Six youths were killed, five of them on the spot, as the car they were travelling in collided with an electric pole near Circuit House roundabout under Bistupur Thana area early on Monday morning.
Two more youths who were also in the same car were injured and are undergoing treatment at the Tata Main Hospital.
All the victims were residents of Kuluptanga in Adityapur and were going to someplace out of town to celebrate the New Year when the mishap took place.

Speeding car hit the pole
OC, Bistupur Thana, Anjani Kumar said there were in all eight persons stuffed in the car (Indica) which came at a breakneck speed from the Bistupur Main Road end and the vehicle hit the pole while taking a turn toward Sonari.
The impact of the collision was so intense that it took the police over an hour to retrieve the victims from the twisted and damaged car.
On being taken out of the car, five of them were found already dead. The remaining three survivors were taken to the Tata Main Hospital, one of them succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The OC said it is yet to be ascertained whether the driver of the vehicle was drunk or not, which will be confirmed in the postmortem report only.
Kumar said the victims had boarded the car from their locality for the New Year celebration at 4.00 am and the mishap took place at about 5.15 am.
