Arshnan, Payal become fastest sprinters of BBMKU

Dhanbad, Dec 11: Arshnan Ali and Payal Kumari have been declared the fastest boy and girl sprinters of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), Dhanbad.

Both students of PK Roy Memorial College, Dhanbad, earned the honour after winning the prestigious 100m race in their respective categories at the 5th BBMKU Athletics Championship, which concluded on Tuesday evening at the Mega Sports Complex.

Arshnan Ali’s victory in men’s 100m race

Arshnan Ali clinched the gold medal in the men’s 100m race, setting a record time. He left Indranil Banerjee of BBM College Baliapur and Dipankar Chakraborty of BSK College Maithon in second and third places, respectively.

Arshnan also triumphed in the 200m race, securing another gold medal.

Payal Kumari’s success in women’s 100m race

Payal Kumari emerged victorious in the women’s 100m race, winning the gold medal with ease. Nikita Kumari from Chas College and Papia Kumari of SSLNT Women’s College secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Payal also won the gold in the 200m race for women.

RSP Jharia becomes overall champion

RSP College Jharia was declared the overall champion of the university athletics meet, with its athletes winning a total of 8 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

The college secured gold in several events, including the women’s 800m race (Tanu Kumari), men’s 800m race (Vijay Yadav), 10,000m race (Virat Kumar Roy), 1500m race (Ravi Kumar Pandey), women’s 1500m race (Laxmi Kumari), women’s 400m race (Pinkey Kumari), hammer throw (Anuj Kumar), and the 4x400m relay (Birat Kumar Roy, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Vijay Yadav).

PK Roy Memorial College finishes as runners-up

Host PK Roy Memorial College finished as the runners-up with 8 gold and 4 bronze medals.

The college’s athletes claimed first place in several events, including shot put (Sandeep Dutta), 200m race (Arshnan Ali), women’s 200m race (Payal Kumari), 100m race (Arshnan Ali), women’s 100m race (Payal Kumari), 4x100m relay (Gautam Kumar), triple jump (Namikant Kumar), and discus throw (Sandeep Dutta).

Closing ceremony and recognition of Winners

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Pushpa Kumari, BBMKU’s Dean of Students Welfare (DSW), who was the chief guest and presented medals to the best athletes and the overall champions, RSP College Jharia.

Dr. DK Singh, Registrar, Dr. Kavita Singh, Principal of PK Roy Memorial College, Dr. Ashutosh Rahul Tirkey, the organizing secretary, and other officials were also present at the event. The chief guest lauded Dr. Ashutosh Rahul Tirkey for successfully hosting the competition.
