Dhanbad, April 25: Budding talents of Jamshedpur Ranchi, Chaibasa and Seraikela made their mark by winning titles of different age groups  in 1st Unrated Jharkhand Chess Championship organized by East Singhbhum District Chess Association.

Jamshedpur’s boys and girls dominated the championship by winning the highest 8 titles, the players of Ranchi, Chaibasa and Saraikela also made their presence felt with winning titles of girls under-13, boys under-13 and others.

First International Chess Arbiter of Jharkhand Jayant Bhuyan (Jamshedpur), who supervised the championship, became impressed by the performance of  unrated players and  said that the state has a rich pool of  budding talent  to nurture.

One of the members of organizing committee  Ajay Kumar said  that these players were under the shadow of rated players but when they got a chance to display their talent they have bounced. “We will  hold such types of tournaments again.” he said.

Winners of different age groups

T Neha of Jamshedpur won the girls under-7 title while Mayra Shah of Chaibasa  got 2nd place and T Niharika of Jamshedpur got 3rd position. In boys U-7 Ridhan Goyal and Dhariya Agrawal (both from Jamshedpur) became 1st and 2nd.

Girls U-9  Aryashree, Shreya Aich of Jamshedpur bagged 1st and 2nd  position while  Prapti Munda of Ranchi 3rd position. In the boys U-7 Akshat Choudhar, Vivaan Basak , Shreyansh Singh ( all Jamshedpur) became 1st, 2nd , 3rd.

Under-11 girls– Eshani Choudhary (Jamshedpur0 became champion and Oishi Paul runners up. Aditi of Chaibasa  got 3rd position. In boys U-7 Divyansh Agrawal  (Jamshedpur ) emerged winner followed by Purav Gandhi and Eeshan Singh.

Under-13 girls- Kyna Malhotra of Ranchi emerged  champion while Kavvya Mandal and Ishaani Patra got 2nd  and 3rd position. In boys U-13– Adarsh Prashar became champion followed by  Soumik Das and  Vaibhav Sai on 2nd  and 3rd position.

Under-15 girls– Palak Agrawal of Saraikela became  champion while Aditi Kashyap (Jamshedpur) and  Soumya Prabha Soy (Chaibasa)  got 2nd and 3rd position. In boys U-7 Divyanshu Mahto of Jamshedpur emerged champion followed by Ravi Dongo and Aarush Akshaj  of Chaibasa on 2nd  and 3rd position respectively.
