Dhanbad, Jan 20: The stage is set for the All India Open Rapid Chess Tournament for the Navin Sinha Memorial Trophy to be played at St Xavier’s Welfare Centre Chaibasa tomorrow.

160 players from 12 states

A total of 160 players from 12 states have registered in the tournament in which Abhishek Das of Jamshedpur has been given top seed while Arpan Das of West Bengal has been given top rank in the junior category.

Twelve-time Jharkhand champion Pritam Singh has also confirmed his participation in this all-India open tournament.  After the controversial state championship held in Ranchi in September 2022, Pritam Singh (who is a senior IT officer) avoided several major tournaments held in Jamshedpur and Chaibasa.
