Bottleneck in MACT cases
According to the DLSA Secretary, “Senior officials of the companies who have the final say in the MACT do not sit in Daltonganj. This is a major bottleneck.”
“The senior officials sit either in Ranchi or in Patna. The panellist advocates here in Daltonganj keep them abreast of the claims put forward here. After going through the long-drawn procedures these senior or higher officials of the companies sitting either at Ranchi or in Patna used to give their piece of mind for settlements of the MACT cases. It thus used to take away a lot of time casting a shadow on the outcome of the MACT settlement in the National Lok Adalat.”
Arpit Srivastav said, “In consultation with the PDJ I spoke to top brasses of the companies sitting either in Ranchi or Patna through video conferencing. I talked to the higher officials of companies like National Insurance Company, Oriental Insurance Company, Chola Mandalam Company, Bajaj Finance, New India Insurance Company, United India Insurance Company etc and tried to convince these officials how important and necessary it is to have an amicable settlement of claims under the MACT in the National Lok Adalat.”
