Jamshedpur, Feb 1: Tata Steel today inaugurated a two-day international conference on Mining and Beneficiation Technology (MBT’24) at the Beldih Club in Bistupur.
The conference organised in collaboration with the Mining Engineers’ Association of India (MEAI), Barajamda Chapter saw the presence of chief guest Padma Bhushan V K Saraswat, member, NITI Aayog during the inaugural session.
Other eminent guests included Debashish Bhattacharya, Vice President, Technology and R&D, Tata Steel and D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel.
This premier conference will address cutting-edge topics, including Mining in the Digital Age, Technological Interventions, De-carbonization, Mega Trends in Beneficiation, Smart Plant Operations, and Recovery of Critical Minerals.
With over 200 participants representing more than 50 global organisations, MBT’24 provides a unique platform for discussions, deliberations, and exchanges on critical areas related to mining and beneficiation.

In his speech during the inaugural session, NITI Aayog member V K Saraswat applauded the role of Tata Steel in the area of introducing circularity in the sector and sustainable mining practices etc.
He spoke in length on the government’s focus in the field of Carbon Neutrality, which can be achieved through advanced technological interventions.
D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Raw Materials), Tata Steel talked about the significance of organising such a meaningful conference which will pave way for engaging discussions and fruitful exchanges, thus contributing to the progress of Mining and Beneficiation sector.
The inaugural day featured keynote speeches by industry and academia stalwarts, both from India and abroad. Day two promises engaging technical sessions, including five keynote presentations, one panel discussion, and 28 technical presentations by the participants.
The conference focuses on the latest advancements in mining and beneficiation, providing an exclusive technical forum through 8 Plenary, 10 Key Notes, 37 Technical Paper Presentations, and two panel discussions.
A book titled “MBT’24 International Conference on Mining and Beneficiation Technology (MBT) Book of Abstracts” was also unveiled by the distinguished guests.
The exhibition displaying technology products of the companies working in the sector was also inaugurated during the conference.
