Jharkhand team excels at 9th National Laser Run Championship

Dhanbad, Sept 9: Jharkhand athletes delivered a stellar performance at the 9th National Laser Run Championship 2025, held from September 4 to 7 at the HFC Ground in Bihat, Begusarai, Bihar. The boys and girls of the state team clinched a total of 13 medals—5 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze.

The championship was hosted by the Pentathlon Association of Bihar under the supervision of the Modern Pentathlon Federation of India.

Coach Lauds Historic Achievement

State team chief coach Shiva Kumar Mahto expressed great satisfaction with the players’ performance upon their return. He said this was the first time Jharkhand had secured such a large medal tally in the championship.

“Jharkhand team delivered an outstanding performance in this competition and received appreciation from all quarters,” Mahto said.

Individual Medal Winners

  • Under-19 Girls: Anisha Kumari – Gold
  • Under-17 Girls: Sakshi Kumari – Gold
  • Under-11 Girls: Meenakshi Kumari – Gold

Mixed Relay Performances

  • Senior: Prem Kishore Mahato & Ruby Kumari – Silver
  • Under-19: Abhishek Kumar Hajari & Neha Khalko – Silver
  • Under-17: Bittu Kumar Yadav & Kiran Kumari – Silver
  • Under-13: Saurav Kumar Mahato & Saloni Kumari – Bronze
  • Under-9: Ayush Pehan & Manikarnika Das – Silver

Team Event Success

  • Senior Women: Shobha Mahato, Asha Kumari, Ritu Kumari – Silver
  • Junior Boys: Ramesh Pramanik, Nirmal Kumhar, Rahul Kumar Rajak – Gold
  • Under-19 Boys: Deepak Toppo, Keshav Kumar, Manish Oraon – Gold
  • Under-13 Boys: Saurav Kumar Mahato, Anch Kumar Mahato, Dev Kumar Dan – Bronze
  • Under-13 Girls: Megha Kumari, Saloni Kumari, Reshmi Kumari – Silver

The team was guided by head coach Shiva Kumar Mahato, assistant coach Tarun Mukhiya, and managers Nandlal Rai, Devesh Kumar Tiwari, and Jayram Bhagat.

Several sports officials and dignitaries, including Dhanbad District Association President Pooja Pandey, Jharkhand Olympic Association general secretary Dr. Madhukant Pathak, treasurer Shivendra Dubey, vice president S.K. Pandey, and Modern Pentathlon Association of Jharkhand secretary Shailendra Pathak, congratulated the athletes for their exceptional performance.

National athletics coach Anshu Bhatia, along with Shashikant Pandey, Abhishek Pandey, Mahavir Prasad Mahato, and Dinesh Yadav, also extended their best wishes to the medal winners.
