Jharkhand veteran cricket team crowned champions of 60+ tournament

Dhanbad, Oct 23: The veteran cricket team of Jharkhand Combined Heroes, led by former United Bihar Ranji team captain Avinash Kumar, clinched victory in the Polished Boundaries Over 60+ (age) Cricket Tournament held in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

In the final match, the Jharkhand Combined Heroes triumphed over the Western Warriors by 37 runs to secure the championship trophy.

Batting first, the Jharkhand team posted a competitive score of 149 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing only four wickets in the process.

Former Ranji star Subhash Chatterjee played a pivotal role, remaining unbeaten with 67 runs, while Nitin Patil and Rajshekharan Raman contributed valuable scores of 26 and 25 runs, respectively.

Avinash Kumar receives trophy

Bowling excellence

For the Western Warriors, bowlers Yashwant Duduskar, Mario Fernandes, and Ratan Sharma each took one wicket.

Notably, the Jharkhand team’s Avinash Kumar delivered a stellar performance, achieving a hat-trick in the final match.

Chasing a target of 150 runs, the Western Warriors struggled against the disciplined bowling of Kumar and former East Zone spinner Mannan Siddiqui, managing to score only 112 runs.

Both Kumar and Siddiqui took three wickets each, while Ashok Vasudevan and Nitin Patil added to the tally with one wicket each.

Individual accolades

In the batting department for the Western Warriors, Ashish Bist (20), Ravi Khadye (23), and Vidyadhar Pednekar (14) were the notable contributors.

At the tournament’s conclusion, Subhash Chatterjee and Avinash Kumar received accolades as the best batsman and best bowler of the tournament, respectively. Chatterjee’s impressive performance included his unbeaten 67 runs and three catches behind the stumps in the final, while Kumar recorded a total of 10 wickets throughout the tournament.

The event was organized by Polished Boundaries and is registered with the Veteran Cricket of India.
