Jamshedpur, August 7: Monsoon remains normal over Jharkhand, but multiple systems are triggering intensified rainfall and thunderstorm activity across the state.

Ranchi Met Centre today issued an advisory asking people to stay alert, especially in southern and north-eastern districts.

Forecast Highlights

August 7:

Heavy Rainfall likely at isolated places over Southern & North-Eastern Jharkhand.

Thunderstorm/Lightning with gusty winds (30–40 km/h) expected at several isolated spots.

August 8:

Heavy Rainfall may continue in the North-Eastern districts.

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds expected in isolated areas.

August 09-10:

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty winds (30–40 km/h) likely to occur at isolated places statewide.

Synoptic Features

Monsoon trough passes through Ferozpur, Karnail, Moradabad, Kheri, Jalpaiguri upto Arunachal Pradesh foothills.

An upper air cyclonic circulation over central Bangladesh (5.8–7.6 km) is tilting southwestward with height.

A mid-level trough from NW Bihar to SE Bangladesh via northern Gangetic West Bengal (3.1–4.5 km).

Observed Conditions

Monsoon normal across Jharkhand during the past 24 hours

Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms observed at many locations.

Highest recorded rainfall (past 24 hrs): 47.4 mm at Gobindpur in Dhanbad
