Jamshedpur, Sept 10: A few isolated places in western Jharkhand are expected to witness heavy rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Elsewhere in the state cloud cover will prevail with few spells of rain.
The deep depression over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards.
Satellite pictures suggested that it is likely to move northwestwards.

Continuing to move further northwestwards across Odisha, it is likely to maintain its intensity of deep depression and weaken gradually into a depression.
Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards across Chhattisgarh during subsequent 24 hours.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Sikar, Khajuraho, Bilaspur, Puri and to the centre of deep depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal.
Statistics revealed that till Monday Jharkhand was facing a rain deficit of 15 per cent.
Against a normal of 873 mm, the state as a whole has actually received 746 mm of rain.
