Jamshedpur, August 27: A few isolated areas in north-eastern Jharkhand are expected to witness heavy rain today.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted heavy rain in one or two places of north-eastern Jharkhand today while heavy rain is also expected in some places of south-eastern parts tomorrow, Wednesday.
Today’s satellite pictures suggested that the well marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal persisted over the same region. It is likely to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and adjoining north Odisha during the next 24 hours.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Jaisalmer, centre of depression over East Rajasthan, Guna, Sidhi, Daltonganj, well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over east central and adjoining north Bay of Bengal around August 29.
