Jamshedpur, August 8: Several isolated areas in western Jharkhand are likely to experience heavy rain today , said a bulletin issued by the Ranchi meteorological office.
According to the bulletin, light to moderate rain is also likely at many places today.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar, Pilani, Agra, Churk, Ranchi, Digha and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.
The cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh was lying over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and north Odisha extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same area today.
Meanwhile, the good spell of rain in several parts of the state during the last 24 hours further brought down the state’s rain deficit figure to 16 % today.
According to train statistics, Jharkhand as a whole as of today actually received rainfall of 489 mm against a normal of 581 mm.
