Jamshedpur, July 6: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain in most parts of Jharkhand today.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Sikar, Orai, Churk, Daltonganj, Purulia, Contai and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
The trough from northeast Rajasthan to Bangladesh was today running from the cyclonic circulation over western Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan to Manipur across cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bangladesh at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

A trough was also running from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh to western Assam across Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, north Bangladesh between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above the mean sea level.
As of today, Jharkhand was facing a rain deficit of 50%. According to rain statistics, against a normal of 236.1 mm, Jharkhand as a whole has so far actually received 118.5 mm of rain, resulting in such a huge rain deficit.
