Jamshedpur, Sept 2: Monsoon activity would remain weak over Jharkhand in the next 48 hours or so, said weathermen today.

IMD’s Ranchi and Patna Met Centres did not issue any alerts for the next two days except for the possibility of light to moderate rain.

Statistics revealed that only a few places experienced light to moderate rain in the past 24 hours.

Satellite imagery indicated that the depression over south Odisha and adjoining areas of north Andhra Pradesh and south Chhattisgarh moved west-northwestwards.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha, south Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area during next the 24 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Sri Ganganagar, Guna, Mandala, the centre of depression over South Odisha, adjoining South Chhattisgarh, north Andhra Pradesh and thence southeastwards to west central Bay of Bengal.

Jharkhand’s rain deficit as per IMD statistics stood at 11 per cent till September 1. Jharkhand has actually received 719 mm of rain against a normal of 807 mm of rain.
